VW announces suspension of car manufacturing in Russia
Volkswagen has officially confirmed the suspension of auto manufacturing in Russia in connection with the military operations in Ukraine.
The manufacturing of cars at the Kaluga-based plant of Volkswagen Group Rus LLC, and contract assembly in Nizhny Novgorod, where VW produces Skoda cars, are suspended owing to the situation in Ukraine, the company said on Twitter.
"Against the background of the Russian attack on Ukraine, VWGroup has decided to stop the production of vehicles in Russia (Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod) until further notice. Vehicle exports to Russia will also be stopped with immediate effect," it said.
