Some 227 civilians killed in first six days of Russian invasion of Ukraine – UNHCR
From February 24 to March 1, 2022, a total of 752 civilians were wounded as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine reports.
"From February 24 to March 1, we recorded 752 civilian casualties in connection with Russia's military actions against Ukraine: 227 people were killed, including 15 children; 525 people were wounded, including 28 children, mainly as a result of shelling and airstrikes. Real losses are much higher," the UNHCR said on Twitter.
As reported, according to the State Emergency Service, over 2,000 Ukrainians died in the seven days of the war, not counting the defenders.
"During the seven days of the war, Russia destroyed hundreds of transport infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, hospitals and kindergartens. During this time, more than 2,000 Ukrainians have already died, not counting our defenders," the State Emergency Service wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
While performing the assigned tasks, ten rescuers were killed, and 13 were injured.
