Some 38 countries appeal to ICC over Russia's invasion of Ukraine – Johnson

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that 38 countries have filed the largest appeal to the International Criminal Court (ICC) due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"Tonight 38 countries from across the world have made the largest ever referral to the International Criminal Court for Russia's barbaric invasion of Ukraine. We are crystal clear that Putin cannot commit these horrific acts with impunity," Johnson wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

According to Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova, the countries that applied to the ICC include UK, Albania, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

"A special big thank you to Lithuania, which was the first to make a separate appeal," Venediktova wrote on Facebook.
