EU sanctions prevent Russia from spending money on war money it received from Europe for its gas – Borrell
European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell says the sanctions imposed on Russia for its aggression against Ukraine will prevent the Kremlin from spending on this war the money it earned from gas supplies to Europe.
He stated this in the European Parliament on Tuesday as part of an extraordinary meeting convened due to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Recalling that the EU has already applied several packages of sanctions for the aggression of the Russian Federation, Borrell expressed confidence that these sanctions will have extremely large consequences for the country. He said they won't let Russia spend the money they spent on their gas to fund this war. According to him, this is the most important lesson they can learn from these strategic developments. He said they cannot appeal to the rule of law and continue their trade and commercial relations.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that the Europeans should be even more united against the forces of evil.
