Foreign minister: Ukraine during presidency of CoE Committee of Ministers to draw up new child protection strategy
A key task of Ukraine during its presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe is to draw up a new child protection strategy for 2012-2015, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko has said.
"The aim of the Ukrainian presidency is to combine the efforts of the agencies of the Council of Europe and the member states of the European Union to draw up a new strategy for the protection of children's rights for 2012-2015," the minister said in Kyiv on Tuesday at an international conference entitled "Combating Violence Against Children: From Isolated Actions to Integrated Strategies."
The minister said the protection of children's rights is a key topic for all regions of Ukraine.
"The realization of Ukraine's priority during the presidency – the protection of children's rights – using relevant measures as part of the Council of Europe, as well as actions at the national level, will promote the achievement of a joint goal – the construction of a society that will care about children's safety," Hryschenko said.
