Ukraine to initiate extradition of militants detained in Belarus – SBU

Kyiv will initiate the extradition of fighters detained in Belarus.

"The SBU [the Security Service of Ukraine] will initiate the issue of extradition of the fighters detained in Belarus," the SBU press center told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

As it became known, the Prosecutor General's Office is directly involved in extradition issues.

"The SBU comes up with an appropriate initiative to apply for the extradition of these persons through the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine as provided for by legal procedures," the press center said on Thursday.

The SBU claims that they have collected enough evidence about the war crimes of PMC Wagner in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"All these persons, like anyone who participated in the seizure of Ukrainian territories and other war crimes, must be brought to justice and punished under Ukrainian law," the SBU stressed.

Recently, the state Belarusian news agency BelTA said that law enforcement officials of Belarus detained 32 "militants of foreign private military company Wagner" near Minsk, and another person was detained in the south of the country. On Wednesday evening this information was confirmed by KGB Chairman Valery Vakulchik at an urgent meeting of the Security Council of Belarus.

On Thursday morning, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Andrei Ravkov said that the Russians from the Wagner PMC detained near Minsk were testifying.
