Foreign Ministry calls on Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Egyptian resorts

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has advised Ukrainian citizens to refrain from traveling to the Egyptian cities of Cairo, Alexandria and Suez, as well as Egyptian resorts, until the situation stabilizes in the country, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine on Sunday.

"We are also confident that the travel companies offering Ukrainian citizens to visit Egypt as tourists should necessarily inform them about the unstable situation in this country," he said.

According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt, there are no Ukrainians among those killed and injured amid riots in the country.

Dykusarov noted that Ukrainian citizens who stay in Egypt could call the Ukrainian Embassy in Cairo. In addition, the consular service department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is available around the clock by phone (044) 238 1657.

The spokesperson said that the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt and the Foreign Ministry had currently registered no complaints from Ukrainians.

Referring to the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt, Dykusarov noted that the general situation in the country remained volatile.

"The Foreign Ministry, along with the competent authorities, is closely monitoring the situation. We are also in touch with the competent authorities of the Russian Federation," Dykusarov said.
