Zelensky believes compromise with IMF should be found – source
President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the country should find a compromise with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
A well-informed source told Interfax-Ukraine that Zelensky said this at a Tuesday meeting with representatives of Ukrainian banks with foreign capital – members of Forum for Leading International Financial Institutions.
"Default is not a compromise. We need to find a compromise with the IMF," the agency's source said, citing Zelensky.
According to the source, bankers spoke about the need for judicial reform in order to create an unconditional protection of the rights of creditors, which will enable banks to resume lending to the economy.
As reported, the IMF mission will arrive in Ukraine on May 21.
