Poroshenko hoping NATO will deploy ships to Sea of Azov due to Russia's aggression
President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine has called on NATO to send some of its naval vessels to the Sea of Azov to help Ukraine restore security following Russia's act of aggression in the Kerch Strait.
"Germany is one of our closest allies, and we hope NATO member states are now ready to send some of their naval vessels to the Sea of Azov to help Ukraine and restore the security there," Poroshenko said in an interview with the German Bild media outlet, BBC Ukraine reported on November 29.
He recalled that first Russia occupied Crimea, then part of eastern Ukraine, and now it wants the Sea of Azov. "We cannot accept such an aggressive policy of Russia," he said.
"Germany must also ask itself: what will Putin do next if we won't stop him?" the Ukrainian head of state said.
