A monument to Ukrainian hetman Pylyp Orlyk, the author of the first Constitution in Europe, will be erected in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"We are really brought together by long-standing historical ties. For example, I want to remind you that an outstanding Ukrainian genius, the author of the first European Constitution, Pylyp Orlyk, was also born on Belarusian soil in the Minsk region. And we agreed that the issue of establishing a monument in Minsk to this outstanding Ukrainian and Belarusian figure would be considered in the near future," he said at the first Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Gomel on Friday.
