Lukashenko says Belarus ready to join efforts to resolve Ukrainian conflict
Belarus is ready to join efforts to resolve the Donbas conflict if the parties concerned agree, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.
"I state clearly that we are ready to get involved in this conflict where it's complicated, but only in the name of peace," Lukashenko said at the first Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Gomel on Friday.
It is "us, three Slavic nations," who must resolve this problem, and "we are not angling for the role of peacemakers or mediators," he said.
"If we need to get involved, we will act in line with the agreements achieved by the two presidents," Lukashenko said.
