Defense Ministry's munitions worth more than $2 bln destroyed over past war years in Ukraine – Pashynsky
The total cost of ammunition from the arsenals of the Defense Ministry, which have been destroyed in Ukraine in recent war years, according to the parliamentary committee on national security and defense, is estimated at more than $2 billion.
"I officially inform that over the past two and a half years, starting with Svatove [fire of ammunition in the arms depot in Luhansk region on October 29, 2015], and ending with Ichnia [fire in the ammunition depot in Chernihiv region on October 9], more than $2 billion worth of ammunition was destroyed. I want everyone to hear this figure," Serhiy Pashynsky, head of the committee, member of People's Front faction, said during the parliamentary conciliation council in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Already on Wednesday, October 17, he said, the relevant parliamentary committee at its meeting will analyze the ammunition problems, including the availability of ammunition in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the current system of their storage.
