The Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Japan have signed a memorandum on cooperation and exchanges in the field of defense.
"The purpose of this memorandum is to create conditions for the promotion of bilateral cooperation and exchanges in the field of defense," the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
The document was signed amid the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Japan on October 11-12, which was headed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar and Ukraine's Deputy Minister for European Integration, Lieutenant General Anatoliy Petrenko, with the aim of "holding the first Ukrainian-Japanese security consultations."
"Ukraine and Japan have signed a memorandum in the field of defense. A qualitatively new step for the development of defense and security cooperation. By the way, Ukraine is the first state of our region with which Japan signed such a document," Bodnar wrote on Twitter.
