Russia militarizing occupied Crimea using air defense missile systems
Ukraine's Ministry for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons has said Russia is expanding its military positions in Russia-occupied Crimea.
"Russia continues militarizing the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula. …As of the end of September 2018, Russia deployed S-400 Triumph air defense missile systems near the cities of Sevastopol, Feodosia and Yevpatoria," the ministry said on Facebook on Thursday.
S-400 Triumph missiles are equipped with missiles of various types, in particular the 48Н6 and 40Н6, which have a range of up to 250 and 400 km, respectively, and are capable of hitting targets at an altitude of 60 km.
Ministry specialists have prepared a map with zones of destruction showing the deployment sites of these missile kits in Crimea. All aircraft (civil and military, which are over the Black and Azov Sea waters and over the Black Sea region of Romania, Moldova and Turkey) are within range of the S-400 Triumph missile defense system, the ministry said.
