Poroshenko thanks Ukrainian Diaspora in U.S. for efforts in recognizing Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has thanked the Ukrainian community in the United States for its efforts in the issue of recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, Ukraine's presidential press service has said.
"I am very grateful to each of you who made great efforts to ensure that 12 states at the local level recognized our tragedy as genocide," Poroshenko said, addressing the leaders of the Ukrainian community during a working visit to the United States.
"We will not stop and now we are waiting at the level of the Congressional Committee for the decision of the United States Congress on recognizing the Holodomor as genocide," Poroshenko said.
