Moving TCG meetings from Minsk will hardly change anything - Marchuk
The transfer of the venue for meetings of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on the settlement of the situation in Donbas from Belarus to another country will not bring any results, Ukraine's representative in the TCG's subgroup on security issues Yevhen Marchuk has said.
"Firstly, this will hardly change anything. Secondly, the negotiations at least a little, somehow [...] keep Belarus in relations with Ukraine, which can change dramatically when the negotiation process leaves Minsk, because we know that Russia and Belarus are a single union state," Marchuk told reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Earlier, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko said that it was necessary to move the venue for the negotiation process on Donbas from Minsk to another capital because of the position of the Belarusian delegation to the UN, which "chronically" votes against any ideas and proposals from Ukraine.
