Condition of Odesa activist Mykhailyk stabilizes, he is given protection
The condition of Odesa activist Oleh Mikhailyk, who was wounded on Saturday, has stabilized, Odesa region's National Police adviser Ruslan Forostiak told the Kyiv-based 112.Ukraina TV channel.
"As of 08:30 he regained consciousness and is in stable condition. …The bullet is in his chest. Doctors say they will operate later. He has lost a lot of blood," Forostiak said, adding that Mykhailyk has been given protection.
As earlier reported, on September 22 unidentified persons attacked the activist, who head "The Strength of People" organization in Odesa. Mykhailyk was hospitalized at the Evreiska Hospital (Jewish Hospital) in Odesa.
Police have opened a criminal case under Article 15 and Article 115 of Ukraine's Criminal Code (premeditated murder). Investigators are working on the case.
