Parubiy signs law increasing number of CEC members
Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy has signed the law introducing amendments to Article 6 of the law on the Central Election Commission (CEC), which increases the number of CEC members from 15 to 17.
According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, the speaker signed the document in the session hall before closing a plenary meeting on Wednesday, adding that he would submit it to the Ukrainian president for signature.
Prior to that, the Verkhovna Rada did not support draft resolutions proposing to abolish the results of voting for the law on September 18.
The speaker expressed confidence that the parliament would update the CEC composition on Thursday.
As reported, on September 18, the Verkhovna Rada increased the number of members of the Central Election Commission from 15 to 17. The law will come into force from the date of its publication.
