Poroshenko, Volker discuss sanctions against Russia
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker to discuss the continuation of the sanctions policy against Russia.
"The sides discussed the situation in the Donbas and noted the importance of continuing the sanctions policy against Russia until complete de-occupation of Ukrainian territory," reads a statement published by the press service of the Ukrainian president.
It notes that Poroshenko thanked Volker for strengthening the defense capability of the Ukrainian army and emphasized the importance of continuing close cooperation in the field of security and defense.
The sides also discussed energy security issues, particularly in the context of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.
