Klitschko hopes for amicable agreement with Naftogaz to sign gas supply agreement for Kyiv

Kyiv city authorities are doing everything possible to sign an agreement on gas supply to Kyiv with Naftogaz as soon as possible, the press service of Kyiv City State Administration has said.

"The government instructed the Ministry of Finance to find sources in the national budget to provide the capital with subventions to pay the difference in tariffs for housing and utilities services in the amount of UAH 730 million. Given the situation with gas supply shortage, this decision opens the possibility of signing an amicable agreement with Naftogaz in the field of legal proceedings for the legal succession of Kyivenergo debts. I communicate with Kyiv residents - they are not interested in this formula. They are interested in the availability of the service itself. And we are doing our best to sign an agreement on gas supply to the capital as soon as possible," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

He noted that Naftogaz still requires the capital to pay off the debts that Kyivenergo accumulated. Only after this the company is ready to sign an agreement. In particular, the matter also concerns UAH 1.2 billion of fines and penalties. Klitschko noted the city is ready to talk about the debts of the population. But the authorities are not going to pay for the activities of the private company.
