Three schools, eight kindergartens to open in Kyiv this year - Klitschko
Three schools and eight kindergartens are due to open in Kyiv after construction or reconstruction by the end of 2018, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.
"We planned the construction and reconstruction of 11 educational institutions in 2018. They include three schools - the construction of one school, the complete reconstruction of one school and an additional building to one of the capital's schools - and eight kindergartens. The issue concerns construction or complete reconstruction," he said live on the Kyiv television channel on Friday, August 17.
He recalled that a significant part of the city budget had been allocated for the education sector.
According to the mayor, there was a line of more than 15,000 children to kindergartens several years ago, but now the line has been reduced to 3,000.
"This line should not exist at all in the coming years," Klitschko added.
He recalled that 19 kindergartens and six schools had been built or completely renovated in Kyiv over the past four years.
