Ukraine ready for compromise at Minsk talks - humanitarian subgroup rep
Ukrainian prisoners in Russia will be the focal point of the Minsk talks of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine (TCG) on August 21 and 22, according to the Ukrainian representative in the TCG humanitarian subgroup, Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko.
"Two-day talks will take place in Minsk on the 21-22 [of August]. The subject of hostages and political prisoners will be a key issue," Gerashchenko wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
Ukraine is ready for compromises in this area, she added.
"We have made several proposals in recent months; unfortunately, all of them have been rejected by Russia and ORDLO [the self-proclaimed republics], which are taking a destructive stance," Gerashchenko wrote.
