First experimental BTR-4 body being assembled at Malyshev Plant
State-owned enterprise (SOE) Malyshev Plant (Kharkiv) is assembling a first experimental body of BTR-4 armored personnel carrier (APC), which mass production would start if it passes successfully tests, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"Now the assembly and welding of the lower part of the armored carrier's body is underway. In general, welders, fitters and toolmakers of the plant must connect more than 1,700 parts, of which more than 400 are armored. If the APC successfully passes tests, the plant will receive a permit to produce them and will be able to start mass production of bodies of armored personnel carriers," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.
The head of state also said that in addition to the production of the BTR-4 body, the Malyshev Plant, which is part of the Ukroboronprom State Concern, is already preparing for welding the experimental BTR-3 body.
