Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has paid a weeklong private visit to the European Union, the Ukrayinska Pravda newspaper said with reference to the presidential press service.
"President Petro Poroshenko was paying a private visit to the European Union from July 29 till August 5 for a number of meetings," the press service said.
According to it, the president covered his travel expenses himself.
"Consistent with Part 1 Article 25 of the Ukrainian Law on the Prevention and Counteracting Legalization (Laundering) of the Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing, the national budget did not pay a single kopeck on this trip, and all travel expenses were covered from the private account of Petro Poroshenko," it said.
The press service denied Poroshenko's visit to Spain and meetings with renowned Ukrainians.
It also declined to say where exactly Poroshenko was and to what ends.
According to the press service, Poroshenko is now in Ukraine.
