Ukraine's begins producing, testing new ammunition – Turchynov

New ammunition production lines have started work by decision of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), the NSDC press service has said, citing its secretary Oleksandr Turchynov.

According to him, test of the new ammunition and weapons produced in Ukraine were carried out at the Honcharivske firing range of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"An important phase of testing the most scarce 152mm shells and 60mm mines for new Ukrainian mortars took place," Turchynov said.

He added that two modifications of 60mm and two modifications of 82mm mortars were also tested, as well as 120mm mortars.

In addition, the NSDC secretary said that during the tests all ballistic characteristics were checked by "a modern unique complex - a mobile radar system for trajectory measurements."

Turchynov said the tested ammunition and artillery weapons "are produced by both public and private enterprises, which makes it possible to improve their quality within the limits of transparent competition and, consequently, to reduce cost."

"I want to emphasize that all the tests were successful, Ukrainian weapons and ammunition showed compliance with specified characteristics and will soon be used by Ukraine's Armed Forces," Turchynov said.
