Twenty-six passengers injured as locomotive crashes into Kyiv-Berdiansk passenger train
On Tuesday morning, at the station Polohy (Zaporizhia region), during the bringing of the locomotive to passenger train No. 227 Kyiv-Berdiansk, speeding took place during the connection, which resulted in injuring of almost three dozen passengers, with two of them hospitalized to the local hospital, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia has reported.
"First aid carriages were called to the scene. According to preliminary information, 26 passengers were given medical care. Two other passengers - a woman with a child - were hospitalized in Polohivsky city hospital," the Ukrzaliznytsia said, specifying that the passengers got such injures as bruises, abrasions, burns, etc.
The passenger train was sent along the route with a delay of 1:35.
To clarify the circumstances of the incident, the commission of the regional branch of Prydniprovska Railway responded to the site.
"We apologize for the current situation," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
