Ukraine not to swerve from Euro-Atlantic path, despite obstacles from Russia
Russia will not be able to influence Ukraine's choice of the Euro-Atlantic path, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze has said.
"We know that Russia is always nervous, because Ukraine continues to move towards Europe, the realization of all human freedoms, and it [Russia] wants to keep Ukraine in its old-fashioned 'Russian world.' But it will fail to do so. We clearly know where we are going. We pay a very tough price every day for this choice, but we will not swerve from this path," she said during the opening of the first national hackaton on Ukraine's security and defense in Kyiv on Monday.
Klympush-Tsintsadze also recalled the results of the NATO summit in July: "They adopted a declaration of the member countries clearly confirming that Ukraine has the sovereign right to independently decide its future, and the members of the alliance are ready to consider Ukraine's application for membership in NATO when Ukraine is ready."
