Poltorak, Matios coordinate steps to reduce crime in army ranks

Ukraine's Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and Chief Military Prosecutor Anatriy Matios have coordinated actions on preventing and countering criminal offenses and abuse in Ukraine's Armed Forces.

Poltorak said on his Facebook page that they discussed these issues during a meeting in Kyiv on Friday.

"We agreed on joint actions to coordinate efforts between the Ministry of Defense and the Military Prosecutor's Office in preventing and countering criminal offenses and abuses," the minister said.

Results of inspections of the 46th Joint Support Center for the Southern Region and the Joint Center for Armed Forces in Kyiv were also raised.

"The commission of the Ministry of Defense has learned the causes of abuses that led to large losses to the state. Inspection results have already been sent to the prosecutor's office," Poltorak said.

As reported, the leadership of the military unit A2788 (Kyiv) faced disciplinary hearings after 176 tonnes of low-quality canned food were found in its warehouses. Inspection results were sent to law enforcement agencies.
