Three KIA, nine WIA due to mortar rupture during drills at Rivne all-arms range
According to preliminary information, there was a mortar rupture at the Rivne range in one of the military units, as a result of which three servicemen were killed and nine others were injured, the press service of the command of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has reported.
"On July 6, at 05:55, an incident occurred during the brigade tactical exercises with field firing at the Rivne military range. According to preliminary data, three servicemen have been killed as a result of the mortar rupture because of injuries incompatible with life, and nine more injured in various degrees of severity," the report says.
The Group Forces commander suspended the brigade tactical drills and started an inquiry into the accident, which happened on the firing positions.
Accident details are being clarified.
The Ukrainian General Staff said on Facebook the tragedy occurred at the 233rd general-forces training range in Rivne.
