Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey during a telephone conversation, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state has reported.
"The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on topical issues of the bilateral and international agenda. The sides stressed the importance of speeding up the negotiation process on signing a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey," the report says.
They also discussed ways to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy, aviation and defense sectors.
In addition, Poroshenko thanked Erdogan for his unchanged position regarding support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and the protection of the rights of the Crimean Tatars.
