Poroshenko's office demands refutation of false reports related to last year's meeting with Trump
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's administration demands a refutation of false reports that a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump last year was "paid by Ukraine."
"We consider the dissemination of the explicitly stated misinformation is part of a fake news campaign to discredit Ukrainian-American relations, as well as is a personal attack on the presidents of Ukraine and the United States," the presidential administration's press service said on Wednesday evening.
The press service noted that the Ukrainian-U.S. summit in June 2017 was organized exclusively through official diplomatic channels, including the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.
Earlier, the BBC reported with reference to its sources that Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, received a secret payment of $400,000 or $600,000 "to fix talks between the Ukrainian president and President Trump" in June 2017.
