Ukraine reports 1 KIA, 3 WIA amid 49 enemy attacks

Russia's hybrid military forces have mounted 66 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action (KIA) and another three as wounded in action (WIA), the operation's press centre has reported.

"The situation in the area of the Operation of the Joint Forces remains difficult. Ukrainian positions came under fire 49 times over the day, including 13 attacks involving 152mm and 122mm artillery weapons and 120mm and 82mm mortars. Our troops conducted an active defense and gave an adequate response to the enemy, not allowing the invaders to force out our units from their positions," the press service of the Joint Forces' Operation (JFO) said on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

In the Luhansk sector, the enemy fired a heavy machine gun at the village of Stanytsia Luhanska, and did not stop trying to weaken the defensive lines of the Ukrainian troops near the village of Troyitske.

In the Horlivka sector, the aggressor was active near the villages of Travneve, Zaitseve and Pivdenne, while in the Donetsk sector it opened fire near the towns of Avdiyivka and Krasnohorivka, and the village of Opytne.

The situation aggravated in the Mariupol sector, namely near the villages of Talakivka, Vodiane and Shyrokyne. From 19:00 to 21:00, the enemy was shelling Talakivka, having launched over ninety 152mm shells. There were no casualties among civilians, however industrial premises were damaged.

"One of our soldiers was killed and three suffered injuries in the hostilities. The life of the injured is not in danger. We had no casualties today," the press service said.

According to intelligence data, four fighters of the Russian-terrorist forces were killed and four others were wounded.
