In Mykolaiv 36 schoolchildren poisoned with unknown substance

On Monday morning, a leak of unknown substance occurred at Mykolaiv's school N. 6, and 36 children were hospitalized in the hospital, Dmytro Zhvavy, a deputy of the Mykolaiv city council has said.

"A leak of a reagent occurred during a lesson. Six children were taken by an ambulance! Now the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the police are working. The details are being clarified ... The children are not in serious condition, but to avoid emergency they were taken to a children's hospital," Zhvavy said on his Facebook page on Monday.

In comments to his report, the deputy said 36 children were taken to the hospital.

Local mass media report that on Monday morning, May 21, in Mykolaiv's school N. 6, about 400 children were evacuated because of an unknown substance.

During the fourth lesson, children massively began to cough and complain. Emergency services were called to the scene.

Children were hospitalized in a children's hospital with a preliminary diagnosis of "poisoning with an unknown substance." Two schoolchildren are in intensive care under the supervision of doctors.

At the same time, the press service of the State Administration of Emergency Situations in Mykolaiv region reported that the specialists had conducted the appropriate measurements, no dangerous substances were detected. The work on the inspection of the school building continues.

Emergency medical teams, police officers are working on the site.
