Opposition Bloc ready to take detained leader of RIA Novosti Ukraine Vyshynsky against their guarantees
The Opposition Bloc party has announced its readiness to take leader of the RIA Novosti Ukraine Kyrylo Vyshynsky, who was detained in Kyiv, against their guarantees.
"The authorities' decision to arrest journalists contradicts the principles of rights and freedoms laid down in the Constitution. Such actions inflict irreparable damage on the international reputation and image of Ukraine as a democratic, legal and simply civilized European state," a statement reads, posted on the party's website on Friday.
The Opposition Bloc considers the task of the struggle for freedom of speech and journalists' rights a key task for all democratic forces in Ukraine.
"We are ready to take the detained journalist against our guarantees and we will follow the progress of the trials," the Opposition Bloc said.
