Sajdik says progress on Donbas prisoner swap possible after possible Normandy Four meeting

Martin Sajdik, the OSCE special representative to negotiations of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Ukraine, has evaluated the group's progress on the prisoner swap with restraint and said he expects that the resolution of this issue could accelerate following a meeting in the Normandy format.

"I believe it [the formula of prisoner swap] is an issue for negotiations and such numbers exist, but I will not disclose them to you. They [the TCG's humanitarian subgroup] are discussing these issues very thoroughly and if there are meetings at the level of the Normandy format, we hope that progress on exactly this issue is made there," Sajdik told reporters on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the so-called "Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics" proposed a prisoner swap with Ukraine under the "157 for 20" formula.

Kyiv, for its part, said that there has been no progress in "the release of captives and the search for missing persons" in Donbas.
