U.S. envoy Volker arrives in Donbas

United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker has arrived in eastern Ukraine, the Voice of America reported on Monday.

"The U.S. Special Representative has just arrived in Donbas," it said.

Volker earlier tweeted to announce his visit to eastern Ukraine at the start of this week, and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Volker would come to Ukraine on May 14.

On May 14, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) said it would additionally provide $125 million in aid for Donbas and the neighboring areas that have been affected by Russian aggression.

The additional grant will be announced at a joint press conference on May 15 by Assistant Administrator for USAID's Bureau for Europe and Eurasia Brock Bierman, Volker and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. The press conference will take place in the Ukrainian-controlled town of Sloviansk in Donetsk region.
