EU sanctions for Russian election in Crimea a signal to those who work with occupiers – Klimkin

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has welcomed the decision by the Council of the European Union to impose sanctions against five persons responsible for illegally holding a Russian presidential election in the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol.

"Five more are under EU sanctions for illegally holding the presidential election in the occupied Crimea. We promised and suggested - the EU did it," he wrote on Twitter on Monday.

According to him, this is a signal to those who work in Crimea with the occupation authorities.

"It is worth thinking before you follow orders," Klimkin said.

As reported, the EU Council decided to impose sanctions against five persons responsible for illegally holding the presidential election in the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol. The sanctions list include "deputy head of the Crimean election commission" Inna Guzeeva, "secretary of the Crimean election commission" Natalia Bezruchenko, "head of the Sevastopol election commission" Alexander Petukhov, "deputy head of the Sevastopol election commission" Miroslav Pogorelov, and "secretary of the Sevastopol election commission" Anastasia Kapranova.
