Ukraine needs new program of cooperation with EU – Poroshenko
Official Kyiv needs a new ambitious program of cooperation with the European Union, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"We have discussed the preparation for the summit, which I discussed in Aachen with President of the European Council Tusk [Donald Tusk]. Slovenia's support is extremely important in this matter, because we need a new and ambitious program for further cooperation with the European Union, including with the participation of Ukraine in the Digital Union, with participation in the Energy Union," he said at a joint press conference with Slovenian President Borut Pahor in Kyiv on Friday.
At the same time Poroshenko noted that the issue of "expansion of other spheres of our activity" was also discussed.
"Including the Customs Union [of the European Union], the Schengen Union, and other positions that give us clear tasks to promote Ukraine to cooperation with the EU," he said.
