Poroshenko signs law on voluntary accession of territorial communities to cities of regional importance
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law on the voluntary joining of the territorial communities of villages and towns to the territorial communities of cities of regional importance (bill No. 6466).
According to the presidential press service, this law recognizes as effective joint territorial communities the cases of the voluntary accession of the territorial communities of villages and towns to the territorial communities of cities of regional importance.
"Both the city center, as well as villages and towns that are its "satellites" benefit from the merger into one territorial community. The residents of the latter will get access to more quality social, administrative and other services that are provided from the local budget. Big cities will get new territories for development, including comfortable green residential areas," the report states.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted this law on April 3, 2018.
