Ukraine's security and defense council to convene to decide on anti-Russian sanctions
The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine will convene on Wednesday, May 2, to consider proposals as for sanctions against Russia that will be similar to those introduced by the United States and the European Union.
"The meeting will take place in the second half of the day," the presidential administration told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
It is to start at 17:00 local time.
As was earlier reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko instructed the government and the NSDC to prepare restrictive measures against Russia and synchronize them with U.S. and EU sanctions.
On April 6, the U.S. Treasury announced the introduction of sanctions against seven Russian businessmen, 12 companies, 17 government officials of Russia, and one Russian arms trading firm and a bank that is affiliated with it.
