Ukrainian govt proposes closing rivers to Russian ships
The Ukrainian government has decided to submit to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) a proposal to introduce a total ban on the transit and transportation of Russian ships in Ukrainian territory.
The government made the relevant decision on Wednesday.
The proposal will be submitted to NSDC in a month's time.
If the NSDC issues a resolution approving the proposal, the government will instruct the Foreign Ministry to contact the relevant authorities of the European Union, the United States, and other countries to ask them to consider similar sanctions.
Sanctions are to be introduced for the period until the restoration of the constitutional order of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol.
