Poroshenko calls for developing global cooperation mechanism to prevent Russian interference in elections

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that it's time to develop a mechanism for global cooperation to counter Russian interference in elections.

"In the next two years, about 20 election campaigns will take place in Western countries. For example, the elections to the European Parliament that will have an impact on the future composition of the European Commission, or presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania," the president said at the 11th Kyiv Security Forum on Thursday.

In this context Poroshenko noted the need to develop a cooperation mechanism of ensuring the integrity of elections, preventing external interference and protecting the free democratic choice.
