U.S. concerned about Nord Stream 2 project, which may slacken West resistance to Russian aggression
The U.S. does not want the Nord Stream 2 project to prevent the Western world from resisting Russian aggression, U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison has said.
Speaking at the panel discussion "NATO-Ukraine: Partnerships for Peace in Europe" at the 11th Kyiv Security Forum on Thursday, she said Washington is very concerned about the Nord Stream 2, which could interfere with the attempts of the Western world to resist Russian aggression.
Hutchison said the U.S. would like Europe and Ukraine to be independent of Russian energy resources.
According to her, given appropriate infrastructure, the U.S. could become an exporter of energy resources.
