Sweden ready to participate in UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas
Sweden is ready to participate in a UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas, Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Sweden, Peter Hultqvist, has said.
"If there is a decision by the UN Security Council, then Sweden will consider the possibility of participating in such a mission. If this decision is taken, this will have a serious impact on the situation with stability in the Baltic countries, Finland and Sweden," he said after talks with Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak in Kyiv on Monday.
At the same time, the defense minister said: "We support the creation of such a mission, but it must comply with all international agreements."
"We do not want to see 'frozen' conflicts. We are trying to achieve stability and peace, that's why we support this mission," he said.
According to Hultqvist, Sweden supports Ukraine in defending its sovereignty.
