Four Ukrainian citizens have been killed in an accident in the Polish city of Opole, Polish Naszemiasto (opole.naszemiasto.pl) website has reported.
The accident happened at the railway crossing in Opole (Chmielowice) on the evening of February 27 at about 19:00. The driver of the Volkswagen Passat, with four people in the car's cabin, drove onto the railway tracks for unknown reasons and was hit by a suburban train. As a result of the accident, three women and a man - the driver of the Volkswagen Passat – have been killed. The youngest of the killed was 20 years old, the oldest 60 years old. They are all citizens of Ukraine.
The passengers and the driver of the rail bus were not injured.
The traffic of trains on the site where the catastrophe took place was temporarily stopped.
Polish police are investigating the cause of the tragedy.
