Court dismisses Yanukovych's lawyers request for Poroshenko's repeat questioning
The Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv has dismissed the request of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych for the second interrogation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko as a witness in Yanukovych's treason case.
At a meeting on Thursday, the court found such a petition by the defense team "completely unfounded". Yanukovych's lawyers called Poroshenko's interrogation held on Wednesday, February 21, "such that they did not take place" because they allegedly did not have the opportunity to "establish the circumstances" they wanted to establish.
"The court cannot but agree with the prosecution that yesterday in the court session you [the defense team], for one reason or another, actually ceded the questioning of Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko to the prosecution. Perhaps this is your defense tactics, and you will be able to realize it in the next court hearings," Presiding Judge Vladyslav Deviatko said.
