OSCE monitors report over 4,000 units of forbidden ordinance along Donbas frontline last year
Over 4,000 weapons forbidden by the Minsk Agreements have been reported along the Donbas contact line in 2017, OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug said.
The OSCE SMM reported over 4,000 units of ordinance on those sites, where they should not be stationed on both sides of the contact line, last year, Hug told reporters.
The OSCE monitors' operational reports are providing grounds to bring to justice violators of the terms of deploying military hardware in Donbas and to take measures to bring this military hardware back to the storage depots, he added.
If heavy weapons are pulled back and will remain at their depots in line with the Minsk Agreements, then there will be fewer casualties among civilians, and there will be smaller damage to infrastructure facilities and then there will be lower risks, Hug said.
