SBU says no Alfa troops near Kyiv hotel where Saakashvili said to be
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has dismissed reports that some employees of its Alfa special unit are waiting outside the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv, where, according to one of the leaders of the Movement of New Forces, David Sakvarelidze, the party's leader and former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashevili is staying.
"There are no Alfa [troops] there now, and there weren't any. That is not true," SBU spokeswoman Olena Hitlianska told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.
The Ukrainian migration service's press service said it has no information about the situation.
Sakvarelidze earlier wrote on Facebook that soldiers from the SBU's Alfa unit had appeared in front of the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv (1 Naberezhno-Khreschatytska Street) on Poshtova Square "in order to seize Mikheil Saakashvili."
