Hungarian Foreign Ministry expects from Ukraine's govt security guarantees for Transcarpathian Hungarians

In Hungary, they condemn the attack on the headquarters of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (KMKSZ) in Uzhhorod and reiterate the need to introduce an OSCE monitoring mission to Zakarpattia region of Ukraine.

In the early hours of Sunday, in Uzhgorod, unknown people threw a Molotov cocktail in the window headquarters of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (KMKSZ) in Uzhhorod. As a result of the incident, no one was hurt, one of the double panes broke in the window, and the frame burned slightly

"We expect the Ukrainian authorities to find the perpetrators as soon as possible and uncover what motivated them during the course of their actions. We expect the Ukrainian authorities to guarantee the safety of Transcarpathian Hungarians," the statement posted on the website of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Tuesday, reads.

The Hungarian Foreign Ministry believes that the incident "confirms the legitimacy of the Hungarian initiative, according to which OSCE observers in Ukraine should be present not only in the eastern part of the country, but also in its western half."
