Appeals court confirms decision on refusal in providing Saakashvili with status of person who needs additional protection
The Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal, at a meeting on Monday, confirmed the decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court that refused to recognize as unlawful the decision of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in Kyiv region to refuse granting leader of the New Forces Movement party, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, the status of a person in need of additional protection.
According to lawyers of Saakashvili, this decision gives the Ukrainian authorities certain grounds for carrying out actions aimed at the possible extradition of their client from Ukraine as a stateless person.
After making this decision, Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page: "Thus, I lose the status of being in Ukraine. This is Poroshenko's next decision, not the court's."
